Parietal Eye
Within the brain of most vertebrates, the epithalamus produces a single median photoreceptor, the parietal organ. The structure of this organ is dependant on species but is present in many reptiles. Lizards and Tuatara possess a parietal eye so distinctive that it is often referred to as the 'third eye'.
